We are pleased to announce that, as part of a group of likeminded companies from across the sector, we are in the process of developing a range of National Vocational Qualifications for Locksmiths.
These qualifications be available from training companies that will be accredited by Highfield Qualifications, an awarding body that is regulated by Ofqual and CCEA. It is hoped that these qualifications will be available later this year. Once available the qualifications will be listed on the national qualifications registers.
These have been developed in response to market pressure to recognise professionalism in the locksmith sector, provide access to CSCS skills cards and ensure that as a sector we are ready for the challenges that will undoubtedly face us.
There will be entry criteria that will need to be met so we would encourage you to continue to take any courses you may have already identified as this can then form part of your portfolio of evidence should you then wish to upgrade to the qualifications.
CORGI Fenestration operates both a national register of skilled Locksmiths and a company registration scheme. To be eligible companies must employ skilled locksmiths who have undertaken a course approved by CORGI Fenestration. Courses which are approved are independently vetted by awarding bodies to ensure the trainers are suitably qualified and the delivery centres follow a strict operating criteria including managing any potential conflicts of interest.
Registration with the Scheme is open to any business (whether a sole trader, limited company, partnership, limited liability partnership, firm or other unincorporated body), which meets the eligibility criteria set out in the Scheme Rules.
